“Harry Turpin is phenomenal as a director and choreographer. Amazing that in such a small space, he was able to create a ‘big production number” feel and also worked the choreography and staging so that the audience on all three sides had the show facing them. Exceptional job!”
“Turpin did a nice job creating a big musical feel in a tiny space. There was so much movement and energy throughout the show!”
“Wonderful work with the actors – they obviously felt safe with each other. Some beautiful moments, particularly the romantic ones. Successful use of the band being in an unusual location. Superb understanding of the script, the nuances and the comedy. Nicely done.”
“Turpin, having started out primarily as a dancer, is well aware of how to match choreography to what a person’s ability is. Yet, he also doesn’t shy away from “real” dance choreography and coordinated group movement. The result is that the dancing shines and truly supports the production from looking too amateur.”
“Director Harry Turpin, a youthful veteran song and dance man himself, here manages a home-run staging a dance-less musical, and setting just the right tone and pacing.”
“Director Harry Turpin‘s love for the show is obvious and infused throughout the cast as they not only embrace the characters but the love story at its core. He has them playing the people with style and not the caricatures and that’s what keeps the heart alive.”
